The Maine Stitching Academy

Transform your love of sewing into a fulfilling career by enrolling in the Maine Stitching Academy! This nine-month intensive program teaches advanced technical skills on commercial sewing machines, identical to those used by professional designers and major label manufacturers. You will learn advanced techniques from master stitcher Adele Ngoy, fashion designer and owner of Antoine’s Formal Wear in Portland, to create beautiful clothing and textile goods with speed, accuracy, and style. We promise this course will equip you with everything you need to succeed in the textile manufacturing industry.

The Maine Stitching Academy is open to immigrant and low-income women, as well as young people interested in fashion design and textile manufacturing as a career. Students will be assessed and placed into one of three levels—Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced—and will progress as they achieve mastery of skills.

Students with previous training or work experience are welcome! Our instructors will help you elevate your skills to the next level.
